An epic solo track from Jyrki K.... from the very early 1989. It is one of his best and also certainly the first appearance of acid house (then the latest thing there was!) sounds in nemesis material... apart from the fiery first part, it also has mellow, psychedelic coda.
The gear was extremely simple: Siel DK700 for polyphonic sounds, Yamaha DD-10 rhythm unit (regarded as a toy, even by then), Yamaha CS-15 for monophonic stuff (rhythmically triggered by the drum track via Envelope Trig in, that´s those lively house 303-like lines...the notes played by hand.) and some short wave radio sinppets. Most garnished with Binson Echorec delay unit. Jyrki really got a lot out of such basic set up. The recording was done on Fostex X-15 4-track cassette machine... the sound isn´t up to date, but has certain lo-fi charm...
2022 was a hard year with the passing of Vangelis, Klaus Schulze, & Manuel Göttsching. Gemstones III is a reminder that the style & spirit of their music remains with us. Televiper
