about

A live mysterium from the Nemesis archives as a name-your-price digital album. The exact time and location unknown, but it is a good live recording from a concert (could be also from a rehearsal, but perhaps less likely; there would have been more paging for the appropriate patches, bum notes, less focused performances, etc!) in late 1997 - early 1998.

It was found as an unmarked C-cassette copy with zero info on top a couple of years ago. The unique setlist tells that it is from a transitional period from the late 1997 to early 1998. The last days of the more techno oriented music, before the band went much more ambient via a couple of years of more Berlin School styled stuff. The line up is certainly Hassinen & Kastman...Joni joined as a third man a couple of years later for the new Millennia.

The most interesting thing about this gig is that there are a few tracks in the setlist, which were played only for a very short period. They have been unreleased before this (except a version of Sonar was released in Belgium on a compilation...probably a bit earlier)

This is most likely not the whole gig as the encore is clearly missing. Possibly Undine and especially Gigaherz were played at every nemesis concert at the time.

The sound is good and has clearly been recorded, as usually, on a DAT from the band´s mixing desk. Later it seems to have been transferred to a C-cassette for easier listening (probably for a car stereo?). The original DAT has probably been lost/broken shortly after.

The only real edits here are crossfading one track from two halves (the cut between the A- and B-side of the cassette!) and taking out some glitches. Some EQ and other cleaning was also necessary, but all in all, it sounds very decent.

Enjoy this rare glimpse into the past glories in the days when ambient Techno and IDM were new things!
