This lengthy jam is from our second session with Joni. He plays his Korg Trident here and he plays those beautiful “flanged” string pads and that slightly dark lead sound which opens the game and is the main feature almost for the whole duration. Jyrki plays Korg M1 (that nice didgeridoo-like sound at the start, among other things) and Moog effects. Ami takes care of the sequencing (Novation Supernova) and mellotron samples, also some Yamaha CS-15 leads in the latter half.
Nemesis did the well-received “retro” album “Cyberiad” earlier in 1998 and some of those “Berlin School”-elements are also present here even more to the fore… this improvisation is decidedly in the style of Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream. One of the reasons for that were those sets of mellotron samples Ami got from England (cheers,, Grant M).
Recording is a bit rough in the end, but it was quite usual with this kind of lenghty improvisations as there was a lot to do for everyone all the time. This is a pure studio live with zero overdubs, but manages to build up quite nicely. Joni does great work in this session and was well on his way to being a full member of the Nemesis line up later on.

honestly this album takes quite a bit of time and many listening rounds to actually "get into". No doubt it is technically excellent, with more advanced composition elements than earlier records, however it isn't that easily accessible either. Perhaps this is actually a strength as each time you will listen to there will be more details to discover. Martin R

Beautiful Berlin School music. I especially love the nod to TD's "Ricochet" on Omega Pt.3. I hope the rumours of Arcane being "retired" aren't true, because music like this is too good to lose. eugene51
